Mercy’s NSI physiatrists – physicians who specialize in rehabilitation and physical medicine – collaborate with NSI neurosurgeons and related specialists to treat numerous disorders affecting the spinal cord itself, nerve roots and the supporting structures of the spine.

Backaches and low back pain are among the most common reasons for doctor visits. NSI offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options designed to optimize and restore functional ability.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, known as physiatrists, treat musculoskeletal injuries, as well as plan and implement specific injury rehabilitation and performance enhancement programs. Mercy NSI has four board certified physiatrists on staff, offering comprehensive in-patient rehabilitation on the 54 bed Mercy Rehab Center. A “hospital-within-the-hospital,” this unit is the largest rehab unit located on a single campus in Oklahoma City.
