Mercy Memorial VP Named to Nursing Board
by Governor Brad Henry
Ardmore— Melinda Laird, vice president of
patient care at Mercy Memorial, has been appointed to the Oklahoma Board
of Nursing by Governor Brad Henry.

Nominated by the Oklahoma Organization of Nurse
Executives and the Oklahoma Nurses Association, Laird began her position
as a member of the board this past month. The board’s mission is to
safeguard the public through regulation of nursing practice, education
and licensure.
“I am honored to be appointed to a board that serves
Oklahomans,” said Laird. “To meet the purpose will be challenging and
exciting as healthcare’s advancement in technology continues to involve
nursing practice and education.” During Laird’s tenure at Mercy
Memorial, the nursing vacancy rate at the facility has dropped below the
national average.
The 11-member board, appointed by Governor Henry,
includes six registered nurses, three licensed practical nurses and two
Oklahomans representing the general public. Each member serves five
years.
Mercy Memorial Health Center is a member of Mercy
Health System of Oklahoma and the Sisters of Mercy Health System. ###
