Mercy Hosts Free Neighborhood Health Fair
Oklahoma City—While the kiddos get a chance
to tour a fire truck and gander at pig lungs (most like human lungs),
you get a chance to make sure you and your family are in the best of
health. Mercy is offering a fun and free Neighborhood Health Fair on
Saturday, November 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mercy Health North May
Clinic.
Besides an ask-the doctor booth where you can ask
doctors specializing in family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine
and geriatrics a host of questions, the health fair will include:
-
Blood pressure screenings for adults
-
Bone density heel screenings for adults
-
Children’s fingerprint kits
-
Ambulance tours
-
Blood sugar testing and diabetes info
-
Safety information
-
Height, weight, BMI for kids
-
Healthy after-school snack ideas
-
Dietitian available to talk with
-
Take-home health information
-
Fun gifts and refreshments
“We wanted to provide something fun for the entire
family,” said Dr. Constance Smiley, a Mercy Health North May physician.
“It’s an opportunity for parents to talk to physicians one-on-one in a
relaxed, informal environment. We also wanted to provide kids some
entertaining yet educational opportunities they won’t soon forget. The
“don’t smoke” demonstration with real pig lungs will be a hit with
kids.”
For the ask-the-doctor booth, Mercy Health North May
physicians will include: Angelique Barreto, M.D., family medicine and
geriatrics; Michael G. Hunt, D.O., pediatrics; Gary Riggs, M.D.,
internal medicine; Constance Smiley, M.D., family medicine; and Stephen
Wolf, M.D., internal medicine.
Mercy Health North May is located at 9100 N. May,
inside the St. Martin’s complex. For more info, log on to

to be awarded Magnet status, is a member of Mercy Health System of
Oklahoma and the Sisters of Mercy Health System. Magnet-designated
facilities: report higher patient satisfaction rates, deliver better
patient outcomes, provide more nursing care at the bedside of patients
and consistently outperform non-magnet organizations. |
