Oklahoma City — James Newman has been named Mercy Health System of Oklahoma’s chief financial officer (CFO).

He received his bachelor’s from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Newman is also a CPA, as well as a member of the Missouri Society of CPA’s, Hospital Financial Management Association and Medical Group Management Association.

“He is a good fit for Mercy because he already embraces the Mercy values,” said Diana Smalley, president and CEO of Mercy Health System of Oklahoma. “Jim will be a great addition to our team.”

Mercy Health Center, the first Magnet hospital in Oklahoma and among only 3 percent of hospitals in the nation to be awarded Magnet status, is a member of Mercy Health System of Oklahoma and the Sisters of Mercy Health System. Magnet-designated facilities: report higher patient satisfaction rates, deliver better patient outcomes, provide more nursing care at the bedside of patients and consistently outperform non-magnet organizations.
