For Immediate Release
Mercy Hosts Free Health Talks & Screenings
Oklahoma City —
Mercy Health Center will host two
free sessions in August for anyone who wants to know more about why
nutrition is vital to managing diabetes and new robotic options for
gynecology procedures. Each session will feature a short talk by a
physician, along with a Q&A segment.
Sessions include:
Diabetes and Nutrition Thursday, August 27, 6:30
p.m.
Shu-Ming Wang, M.D., a family medicine physician at Mercy Health
North May clinic, will discuss the importance of why what you eat
impacts diabetes. Mercy dietitians will also be on hand to answer
questions.
Robotics and Women Friday, August 21, 2 p.m.
Tony Shanbour, M.D., a Mercy obstetrician/gynecologist, will give the lowdown
on all the new options in gynecological surgery. Dr. Shanbour is one of
two physicians in the nation who has performed the most benign gyn
robotics procedures (and considering that medical studies show the more
procedures a physician perform, the better the outcomes, it’s vital to
choose experience when selecting a physician). One of Mercy’s $1.5
million da Vinci robots will be on hand for women to get a closer view.
The diabetes talk will be held at Mercy Health North
May clinic, 9100 N. May, and the robotics talk will be at Mercy Health
Center’s conference center. To RSVP for the free talks, call (405)
752-3600.
