Mercy Names Two New Executives
Oklahoma City — Jim Gebhart, FACHE, has been named
Mercy Health Center’s president, and David Tew has been named chief
operating officer of Mercy Health System of Oklahoma.
Gebhart joins Mercy from Hillcrest Health System in
Waco, Texas, where he served as senior executive vice president and
chief operating officer. Gebhart, a fellow in the American College of
Healthcare Executives, has more than 20 years of experience in
healthcare. He received his bachelor’s in business administration from
Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee and a master’s in business
administration and health services management from the University of
Dallas.
Tew most recently served as vice president and chief
operating officer for Alegent Health Bergan Mercy Medical Center in
Omaha, Nebraska. Since 1975, he has worked in healthcare, holding
various executive positions in Utah, Washington and California prior to
Alegent. Tew received a bachelor’s of science and a master’s in public
administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also
serves as a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“Both Jim and David are great additions to the Mercy
team,” said Di Smalley, president and chief executive officer of Mercy
Health System of Oklahoma. “With their combined health care experience
of more than 50 years, they will help Mercy navigate the future
challenges in health.”
Gebhart moves to the area with his wife, Karen, and
their two sons, and Tew moves to the metro with his wife, Judy. The
couple has eight grown children.
