Kiddos Get Fit at Mercy Kidfit Health Camp
Oklahoma City—Thanks to Mercy’s three-day Kidfit
summer health camp in August, children from kindergarten through fifth
grade can learn more about eating right and staying fit.
By starting young with good health habits, kids
learn that they can make a powerful impact on major health problems such
as cancer and heart disease. At the day camp, kids learn the importance
of healthy nutritious foods, how to prepare tasty meals and why fitness
is important for good health. Each class will also include preparation
of a healthy meal, including fruit smoothies and fun games (kids love
the food scavenger hunt).
“The program is very hands-on and a great way to get
kids excited about healthy eating and active living,” said Lori Manning,
a Mercy registered dietitian who teaches Kidfit. “Kids are like little
sponges, absorbing all the information.”
Kidfit is August 4-6 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
each day. Cost is $45 per child and includes cooking activity, healthy
lunch and fitness activity.
Mercy Kidfit will be in the Mercy Conference Center,
lower level of McAuley Building at 4300 W. Memorial Road. Class size is
limited. For more information or to enroll, call (405) 752-3087.
