Mercy Names Thomas as Physician Leader
Oklahoma City—Mercy Health System of Oklahoma has named Cullen
Thomas, M.D., as chief of medical practice development.
After almost three decades of service as a general
surgeon at Mercy, Dr. Thomas will take the lead in physician development
for Mercy.
Dr. Thomas, who is also a lawyer and a member of the
Oklahoma and Arizona Bars, specialized in laparoscopic general surgery,
including colon, stomach, biliary and small bowel. For the past 10
years, he has served as president and chairman of the Board of Surgical
Specialists of Oklahoma—a 40-physician group in Oklahoma City.
“Dr. Thomas will be instrumental in developing new
partnerships with Mercy physicians which will allow us to serve patients
better,” said Di Smalley, president and chief executive officer of Mercy
Health System of Oklahoma. “Today’s healthcare is complex for both
providers and patients, but Mercy is committed to finding solutions to
these challenges. Together, we will chart a path for the future.”
Dr. Thomas has three grown children. He and his
wife, Bonnie enjoy their four grandchildren. Besides spending time with
family, his interests include writing, golf and photography. He also
serves as an elder at New Covenant Christian Church.
