Oklahoma City — Charles McWilliams, M.D., a urologist, has been named Mercy Chief of Staff for 2007.

Before becoming board certified, he performed a residency in urology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. McWilliams has been on staff at Mercy since 1982 and has served as urology section chief several times in the past 20 years.

Dr. McWilliams is also executive director of the Oklahoma State Urological Association and an active member of the American Urological Association. He also serves on the Medicare Advisory Committee for Oklahoma and on the board of American Association of Clinical Urologists.

A native of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Dr. McWilliams has presented a variety of papers and lectures on new treatments in urology.

Mercy Health Center, the only Magnet hospital in Oklahoma and among only 3 percent of hospitals in the nation to be awarded Magnet status, is a member of Mercy Health System of Oklahoma and the Sisters of Mercy Health System. Magnet-designated facilities: report higher patient satisfaction rates, deliver better patient outcomes, provide more nursing care at the bedside of patients and consistently outperform non-magnet organizations.
