Mercy Physical Therapist Awarded

Oklahoma City — Jason E. Gates, Mercy Health Center physical therapist, received the David J. Falcone Award. The award, given at the November Oklahoma Hospital Association annual convention in Oklahoma City, recognizes a health administration student for outstanding achievement.

Since 2000, Gates has worked as a physical therapist for Mercy. He is a certified clinical instructor and vestibular rehabilitation specialist. Gates has volunteered his time at a free therapy clinic, attends church mission trips and has volunteered as a program assistant at the ACHE Congress 2009.

Gates is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served as the activities coordinator for the University of Oklahoma ACHE chapter for 2008-2009.

“We are proud of Jason’s efforts to make his community a better place,” said Di Smalley, Mercy Health System of Oklahoma CEO. “His dedication to serving others is an inspiration.”

Gates will graduate in May 2010 with a master’s degree in health administration policy.

The David J. Falcone award was renamed in 1996, in honor of the late Dr. Falcone. Falcone served as professor and chair of the Department of Health Administration and Policy for the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health.
