Quality indicators:
Why should
cutting-edge technology be important to
you?
Technology, combined with
skill and experience, is a high-tech set of “eyes and ears” for your
physician. New technology helps provide faster, more accurate diagnosis,
treatment and recovery. Cutting-edge technology is just one piece of
Mercy’s entire program that represents a commitment – both scientific
and financial – to the discovery, treatment and cure of diseases.

Fully automated lab
Revolutionizing safety and accuracy in blood
tests
With a new 24-hour fully auto-mated lab system – the only one of its kind
in the state – Mercy provides blood test results with greater speed and
accuracy. Introduced in February 2004, the Bayer Diagnostics auto-mated
system increases efficiency and reduces the chance for human error.
“This is absolutely space age,” says Sally Carter,
chemistry supervisor. “The robot reads the bar code on every tube of
blood over and over again, compared to a lab tech reading it only once.
Results take half the time, and for our patients in an emergency
situation, every second counts.”
