Stroke Quality Measures

Quality measures can be used to report how well a hospital provides care for patients. Ten key indicators have been identified for measuring the quality of care for patients who have suffered a stroke. 

  1. Around-the-clock brain imaging availability

  2. Around-the-clock radiologist availability to interpret brain imaging studies

  3. Stroke disease management program: availability and type

  4. Use of tPA

  5. Neurologist on staff to treat stroke patients

  6. Board certification of neurologists

  7. Patient and community education programs: availability and type

  8. Length of stay for stroke patients

  9. Stroke center: availability and type

  10. Stroke rehabilitation program: availability and type
