Cancer Resource Center
Since 1967, Mercy Cancer
Center has received continuous accreditation privileges from the
prestigious American College of Surgeons (ACoS) as an Accredited Community
Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center. It recognizes Mercy as one of the top
cancer treatment programs in the United States for inpatient and outpatient
care.
The Mercy Cancer
Resource Center, slated for dedication in winter 2007, provides a source of light,
hope and healing for individuals and families whose lives are being changed
by cancer. Support extends far beyond the medical treatment of the patient's
cancer and includes a cancer support team, nurse navigator program, cancer
education and prevention, risk counseling and disease management
services.
A team of Mercy caregivers provide assistance, answers,
tools and resources for the entire family. Information about the physical,
emotional and spiritual challenges that are common with this disease are
available.

Hospice
Mercy Hospice was
established in 1990, one of the first hospice programs in central Oklahoma,
as a natural extension of the ministries
of the Sisters of Mercy. Hospice is not a place, but a concept of care that
allows a terminal illness to follow its natural course. The focus is on
caring, not curing, and providing quality of life.
With more than 70 hospice programs available in central
Oklahoma, Mercy Hospice remains as one of only two non-profit hospice
providers. It is the only program in Oklahoma that has a team of registered
daytime nurses who are all nationally certified.
While Medicare or private insurance pays the cost of
hospice care for most patients, Mercy is able to accept patients who do not
have the ability to pay because of the generosity of our donors.

Multiple Sclerosis Center
Recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Multiple
Sclerosis Center of Oklahoma is the only comprehensive care center in
Oklahoma and the surrounding region.
Though there is no cure for
multiple sclerosis, comprehensive disease management helps individuals
diagnosed with MS to have a normal or near-normal life expectancy and not
become severely disabled. However, the cost of medications is high and many patients are unable to afford them.
The MS Bridge program bridges the gap between treatment
and affordability, raising funds to help patients with medical expenses. One
hundred percent of the funds raised through the MS Bridge go directly to
assist patients.

Mercy's campaign to build a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Mercy opened the first Level III
neonatal intensive care unit in the metro area in 1975, and it is still one
of only three in Oklahoma City. The state's leading perinatal and neonatal
physicians are available to babies around the clock.
Delivering
and saving the lives of those who start life prematurely or sick is why
we're here. Mercy delivers 250-300 babies per month, and 11 percent of those
deliveries result in a baby that needs neonatal care. Currently, there just
aren't enough beds for every sick newborn.
Mercy
will be enlarging from 28 to 42 beds, giving us additional capacity for the
babies that need special care. Your support will help move this project
along.
